- This service was initiated on December 22, 1873 and finished in August 1874
- The mail from New Zealand connected at Fiji with the Sydney-Fiji-Honolulu-San Francisco service run by the Australian Mail Steamship Company
- This cover travelled by the first sailing of the Hall & Forbes service

Stamps include:
- New Zealand 1872/73: 2d vermilion, perf. 12½, a horizontal strip of three
- These are from the famous and much sought after “Chalon Head” series
