Robbery Notice, Part 2

Caveat Emptor – Buyer Beware

It is with great regret that I have to report a robbery at The Collectors’ Shop, Blackrock Market some time between Sunday 6th April and Thursday 24th April last.  I have now completed an inventory of the stolen items so that any dealer, auction house or private buyers can be aware of the fact that stolen property that might be offered to them over the coming weeks.

The missing items include the following :-

A large quantity (several hundred) of Irish, British and European silver coins were also stolen and these were in individual white Hartberger coin holders, with denomination, price, date and country marked in each corner (clockwise from top left).  These would have included the following :-

Ireland

  • Irish Decimal coins – all uncirculated (or MS-60 upwards for those using the American coin grading system)
  • 100-120 of each coin type, including decimal halfpenny, penny, twopence, fivepence (small and large size), tenpence (small and large size), twentypence, fiftypence and one pound coins.  Multiples of all dates, except 1992 tenpence and 1985 twentypence (for obvious reasons).
  • Irish (silver) Pre-Decimal coins – various grades, from VF to Unc
  • 30-40 of each coin type, including Irish 10/- (Pearse coins), halfcrowns, florins and shillings, dating from 1928 to 1942.  Multiples of most dates, except 1937 shilling and halfcrown + 1943 florin and halfcrown (for obvious reasons).
  • 4 x 1928 Proof sets in original boxes
  • 20 x 1966 uncirculated set in original green folders1928 proof case 1
  • British (silver) Pre-Decimal coins
  • 30-40 of each coin type, including Crowns, double-florins, halfcrowns, florins, shillings and sixpences, dating from the 1860s to 1946
  • Multiples of several dates, various grades, from VF to Unc.
  • No modern bullion coins or proofs – these coins are mostly circulated
  • Highlights include 1 x 1930, 31 and 32 crown (all EF) and 3 x 1930 halfcrown (good EF)
  • 1932 crown unc

European (silver) coins

  • 30-40 of each coin type, including crown-sized silver coins, down to smaller denominations, dating from 1860s to 1960s
  • Multiples of several dates, various grades, from VF to Unc.
  • No modern bullion coins or proofs – these coins are mostly circulated
  • Highlights include german states 1890s to WW1 silver coins (all EF + Unc)
  • 1914 german_states_bavaria_2_mark 1892 german_states_saxony_weimar_2_markUSA & Canada (silver) coins
  • 30-40 of each coin type, including Morgan and Peace Dollar coins, plus half-dollar silver coins, dating from 1880s to the 1960s
  • Multiples of several dates, various grades, from VF to Unc.
  • No modern bullion coins or proofs – these coins are mostly circulated
