Robbery Notice, Part 1

Caveat Emptor – Buyer Beware

It is with great regret that I have to report a robbery at The Collectors’ Shop, Blackrock Market some time between Sunday 6th April and Thursday 24th April last.  I am in the middle of doing an inventory of the stolen items so that any dealer, auction house or private buyers can be aware of the fact that stolen property that might be offered to them over the coming weeks.

The missing items include the following :-

Box 1 – Irish Euro currency BU sets 2002-to date
– 2/5 of each of the following
– 4 x 2002, 4 x 2003 Casino, 4 x Special Olympics, plus 2/5 of the BU sets for 2004-14
Irish Decimal currency BU sets, 1969-2000
– 2/3 of each set (pick of the bunch are 2 x 1986 BU sets)
– approx. 50-60 sets in total

Box 2 – Euro Zone BU sets 2002-to date
– 4/5 of each country (better items incl. 1 x San Marino set + 2 x Benelux sets)
– approx. 50-60 sets in total

Box 3 – British BU, Proof & Uncirculated sets 1953-to date
– 1/2 of each, incl. standard BU sets and “luxury folder” Proof sets (most years present)
– estimated value, 40-50 sets (€1,000 to €1,500)

Box 4 – Rest of the World BU sets (various dates)
– 1/2 of each (but mostly single year sets from USA, Canada, Australia and Br. Commonwealth countries)
– approx. 50-60 sets in total

Box 5 – Euro Zone Uncirculated sets (various dates/countries)
– these are sets made up from “mint rolls” or “mint bags” for each Euro Zone country
– about 20-30 sets in hard plastic cases with inserts
– plus another 40-50 sets in long, flexible polypropylene 8-coin holders

A large quantity (several hundred) of Irish, British and European silver coins were also stolen and these were in individual white Hartberger coin holders, with denomination, price, date and country marked in each corner (clockwise from top left).  These would have included the following :-

Ireland

Irish 10/- (Pearse coins), halfcrowns, florins and shillings, dating from 1928 to 1942.

British

Crowns, halfcrowns, florins, shillings and sixpences, dating from the 1860s to 1946

European

Mixed crown-sized silver coins, down to smaller denominations, dating from 1860s to 1960s

USA & Canada

Dollar and half-dollar silver coins, dating from 1880s to the 1960s

 

I am trying to put together an inventory of these and will know more later on today, so there will be a Part 2 of this robbery notice.
